Long considered amongst the upper crust of Chicago rappers, its been a minute since we last heard from Mick Jenkins in full form. Following the release of 2014’s The Water(s) a in and out with label deals and experiments on the business side of the industry made getting the man’s work a bit more difficult. As 2017 comes to a close though, it appears Mr. Jenkins is very much in his groove and prepping much more for the coming new year, teasing as much in his unexpected EP release this week, or more; the anxious.
Without much teasing ahead of time, Jenkins seems to be getting something off his chest with this seven song collection. In describing his thought process for it, he had the below to say to Andrew Barber of FakeShore Drive:
Or More is a project series involving musical ideas and concepts that are currently inspiring the album’s creation process. As creatives we live in a world of time constraints imposed by illusive industry standards, anxious demands of appreciators, or even our own self reflections. #OrMore is a smaller context of this larger pool of thoughts.. a world of exploration removed from the confines of a particular method.
