(Released June 7, 2019) Pelican’s first new full length in six years is a fresh take for Chicago’s venerable post-metal masters. Nighttime Stories is a more intense recording than previous albums, bolstered by fresh chord progressions and structures brought to the table by the roster change-up from a few years prior.
Dallas Thomas, (who replaced founding guitarist Laurent Schroder Lebec in 2013) has noticeably left his mark on this new recording, bringing a distinct, differentiated approach to the songwriting. This evolution in sound is exceptionally refreshing coming from a band who have been local stalwarts for nearly 20 years.
