Chicago’s firearm issue is well-documented and just before the weekend, the Chop Shop in Wicker Park was the latest venue to experience the gunfire as the popular restaurant and concert space at 2033 W North Ave., near Milwaukee and Damen was hit by several shots late Thursday.

Early reports say that an unidentified individual opened fire on the venue at about 10 PM. No one was struck or injured in the shooting, but several of the front windows were broken. As of now, police do not have anyone un custody and the bar shut down immediately following the shooting. There was a show scheduled for 9 PM at the back room of Chop Shop for Festivity which according to witnesses was interrupted by the shooting. NBC is also reporting that “Witnesses said they saw a group of people get out of a vehicle outside the venue, then shots were fired. Police said no one was injured and the incident was being treated as a “criminal damage to property.”

No word on further details, but we’ll be reporting as more come available. Check the video below from WGN for more. As of Saturday morning, Chop Shop was back open for Restaurant Week.
