This past week saw ticket holders for the annual end of the festival season jaunt that is Riot Fest. With just a handful of days ahead of the fest, the schedule had yet to be released yet and there were rumors creeping around the internet that organizers were having problems obtaining the necessary permits for Douglas Park. Yesterday, those same organizers put those rumors to bed, announcing that everything was on for Sept. 14-16, albeit with an adjusted lineup.
A planned Blink-182 reunion had to be rescheduled due to an illness in the band, which subsequently held up the daily schedule announcements. In a moment of true scrambling, Run The Jewels, Weezer and Taking Back Sunday will fill in for Blink, who cancelled their entire tour. Below is the statement from Riot Mike and pick up remaining tickets here.
We cannot wait to see you guys next week.
Yesterday afternoon, while we preparing to announce a long-awaited special headliner – alongside single-day lineups and tickets – we received a call from Blink-182’s camp letting us know that due to health-related issues with Travis, they unfortunately and sorrowfully had to cancel their entire September tour. Moreover, Riot and Blink-182 want all of you to know that they are rescheduled as one our headliners next year for Riot Fest’s 15th anniversary. All of us here at Riot Fest wish Travis the best of health and nothing short of a speedy recovery.
As soon as we found out the news, we feverishly started to call upon some of our friends to fill the spot left by Blink-182. Within a matter of hours, Weezer, Run the Jewels and Talking Back Sunday stepped up, and will now be performing at Riot Fest 2018.
We’ll start rolling out the next round of announcements tomorrow at 10:00 a.m CDT.
We thank you for your continued support, passion, and loyalty. We look forward to another incredible year… See you next week!
Your Chum,
Riot Mike
