Chicago’s Renaissance extends far beyond the musical landscape and few have shown just how far the scene can stretch like Oak Park-native Ian Eastwood who has made a name for himself with his feet over the last five years. Regularly pumping out new content on a seemingly neverending basis, the Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, everyone collaborator returned away from his stint on Jennifer Lopez’s ‘World of Dance’ show to put his moves to Mensa’s latest, “Say I Didn’t” off The Autobiography.
Having caught up with Eastwood several times over the last couple of years, his evolution has been at once consistent and in line with what we’ve come to expect from one of the area’s more talented up and comers. His work is always representative of the hip-hop instincts that are pervasive throughout, often focusing more closely on the lyricism than the production which serves to create a sort alternative storytelling method that takes his motion to a new landscape. On this one, we find Eastwood cutting up in a train car over one of Mensa’s more introspective pieces.
