The year is still very much young, but one of the city’s brightest talents isn’t wasting any time getting things moving as Jack Red debuted a surprise debut project, Holy Affair that arrives as an amalgamation of lessons learned over the years collaborating with some of the city’s best.
For those who may not be readily aware, Jack Red has long possessed one of the most layered, full vocal abilities anywhere in the city. A Closed Sessions affiliate who started off his time at Soundscape Studios as an engineer, Red has both the ability and the understanding of his craft that is rare today. A deeply spiritual individual who can often be found singing depth-defying love songs to his wife onstage, he’s not afraid to wear his emotion on his sleeve and continues on that path here with a five song offering that puts his careful songwriting centerstage. Truly, a great way to pass those dark late afternoon hours of early January with your significant other on the couch.
