The sun’s emerged once again from it’s four-month hiatus known as Fall and Winter locally, and that means that Chicagoans are already free-falling into summer vibes, forty degrees or not. The first inkling of summertime Chi arrived today, as Lollapalooza unveiled its monstrous lineup for their 2018 installment, and it’s got plenty of local faces once again.
The headliners for the event in Grant Park August 2-5 were announced on the Lollapalooza website include Jack White, The Arctic Monkeys, Bruno Mars and The Weeknd. While it feels as though we’ve experienced those names at the top of the board in year’s past, the rest of the acts playing keep things very eclectic. One name in particular stood out: Travis $cott. Following his 2015 performance, it seemed as though he wouldn’t even be allowed back to the city after causing a riot during his afternoon set that had fans climbing over the barricades and onto the stage. He was later removed from the stage by police and banned from performing in the future, so we’ll see how that one turns out. Beyond Scott, there’s also Logic, Gucci Mane, Lil Uzi Vert, Kali Uchis, LL Cool J for some reason….check it all out below.
Outside of the out of towners, it’s always fun to keep track of the hometown names that find their way to the city’s biggest stages. This year the lineage of the Chicago Renaissance once again ends up in Grant Park as the likes of Knox Fortune, Taylor Bennett, Supa Bwe, G Herbo, Femdot and freshly-minted G.O.O.D. Music signee, Valee. Grab tickets here and keep it locked to Mild Sauce and Mild Sauce Radio for more info coming soon.
