The reunion of The Cool Kids has been a long time coming and finally arrived over the weekend as the pair of Chuck Inglish and Sir Michael Rocks released their album, Special Edition Grandmaster Deluxe.

The duo came back together after spending a time apart following the release of their 2011 album, When Fish Ride Bicycles and follows several year’s worth of anticipation. While they took a break from recording during the interim, they have often appeared alongside one another as of late. In December of last year they headlined Fake Shore Drive & Red Bull Sound Select’s show at Thalia Hall.

As far as the project itself, it’s well worth the wait. A collection of songs that FSD’s Andrew Barber described as “their best piece of work to date” Chuck and Sir Mikey Rocks certainly don’t disappoint on return. Hannibal Burress helps to open things up and features are spread around town as they tap HXLT, Jeremih and Anthony Pavel, among a well-heeled list that includes Travis Barker and A-Trak. It’s great to see the guys pull through with a standalone project that accurately reflects they’ve been making for years, albeit with an added wisdom to tie it all together carefully. Check it out streaming above and pick it up for your personal collection on iTunes.
