It’s been a long week and we’re doing our best to catch up for everyone. With that said, Chicagoans have been busy. Just as you can count (sometimes) on warm temperatures as we creep into “spring” fans can likewise expect an ever-increasing frequency of releases as the year matures. Case in point? Well, Smino continued going crazy with his pair of visuals for “Khlorine” with Sango and a super dope take on “Wild Irish Roses” while Katie Got Bandz made a statement with “Gang”, Treated Crew kicked off their Treated Tuesdays series of music video releases and more, all available below and, of course, streaming on Mild Sauce Radio 24/7.
Smino & Sango • “Khlorine”
Smino has been living life in the sun a lot lately. Having hit trips to Jamaica and South America over the last couple months, it appears he’s quite literally basking in the insanely successful 2017 he had. On his latest, he links with Sango who similarly has been dealing in hues of bright greens as of late. With that in mind, and with plenty of dope backdrop from which to work with, the pair linked up and put together a visual for their stand out single “Khlorine”. Check that one out above and keep it locked to Mild Sauce Radio to hear all the latest music coming out of the city and beyond.
Katie Got Bandz • “Gang”
Katie Got Bandz is back like she never left. The Chicago Queen of Drill aka Drillary Clinton (better name a few years ago) hit the streets earlier this week with a new video for her single, “Gang”. The track is one of the first real proper releases we’ve seen from Katie since she did a little bit of time behind bars last year. With the negativity in the rearview though it seems as though she’s back in her groove and working hard. A good collection of the shots here seem to be from the Music Garage, a catacomb of studios and rehearsal spaces in the city’s West Loop which perhaps could gesture towards more music coming soon. For now, catch the video for “Gang” below and the single streaming on Mild Sauce Radio.
Smino • “Wild Irish Roses”
At this point, Smino has pretty much run away with favorite rapper of 2018 honors. It seems as though nothing is out of possibility for the St. Louis transplant and on his latest video he stretches 0ut even more for a cinematic piece that accentuates the vibes of one of the standout tracks on Blkswn. With plenty of cameos to boot and the continued stellar aesthetics that Smino has proven with each release, this one is yet another home run in a season on wins for the kid. Get into it below.
Jon Jame$ • “My Phone”
Could Treated Crew be making a comeback? Don’t be so quick to characterize it as such, but after a couple quiet years that were marked by reported differences in creativity, the vaunted Chicago collective seems to have found new footing after Mic Terror took to socials last year to announce the beef had been squashed, whatever it may have been. Regardless, putting Jon Jame$ front and center as part of their ‘Treated Tuesdays’ that dropped with a visual last week. Jame$ started to really find footing towards the later Treated years and has been a personal favorite throughout. It’s dope to see the team back to doing what they do best, and offering up a visual to boot. Seeing as we’re a week late and today’s Monday, expect another one close on the heels of “My Phone”.
