The new year has brought with it plenty of news from in and around the city regarding those creating, producing or otherwise involved with the music scene and Mild Sauce is once again here to wrap it all up for you in one easy-to-digest, well, digest. This time around we have news from the likes of Taylor Bennett, React Presents and much more. Check those stories out below and feel free to tune in on Sunday nights where Jake Krez runs down the latest news and music on Mild Sauce Live on Mild Sauce Radio. More on that later, for now let’s get into the below.

Taylor Bennett Announces Tour

Taylor Bennett has definitely come a long way since emerging years ago as simply Chance The Rapper’s younger brother. The seasoned rapper, coming off the wide-release of his seminal project, Restoration of An American Idol, decided to kick his meteoric rise even further by announcing a nationwide tour that kicks off in Washington D.C February 26 and runs through the end of May where Taylor performs as part of Boston Calling Festival. Absent from the tour dates seems to be a Chicago show, which may be a clue to a possible hometown festival showing from the young gunner. While that remains to be seen, it is exciting to see Taylor taking his talents on the road once again as a headliner, and continuing to climb upwards. Pick up tickets here.

Mamby on the Beach Releases After Movie + 2018 Presale Tickets

Since debuting on the shores of Lake Michigan three years ago, REACT Presents’ Mamby on the Beach festival has grown into one of the city’s brightest summer jaunts, and evolved even further in its 2017 edition, which can be relived in the video organizers released this week.

With resale tickets for this year’s fest going on sale Thursday, fans can take a look back on what made the beach-side sets so memorable. The video highlights performances like Flying Lotus, Saba, MGMT and many more. Our personal highlight was definitely catching Kaina & The Burns Twins do their thing under a warm summer sun. You really can’t beat Mamby for pure aesthetic backdrop during a festival and if you’re one of those people who plan for things, go ahead and get those presale tickets at $79 for two days and $129 for VIP as soon as possible. For now, warm up with the video below.

Jamila Woods Photographed For Vogue

Jamila Woods has been on an upward swing for awhile now. Since breaking out as a solo act over the last two years, the true Renaissance woman has shown her abilities across several mediums. One of those, of course, is poetry and this weekend she gave fans and listeners a peek into the latest chapter of her journey as she was photographed for an upcoming issue of Vogue by legendary photographer Annie Liebowitz. As if that in itself isn’t impressive enough, the shoot took place at Langston Hughes’ former residence in Harlem. The issue, “Families Who Are Changing The World As We Know It” focuses on creative “families” and highlights Woods’ participation in Young Chicago Authors alongside ‘mentees’ E’mon Lauren and Patricia Frazier. Keep an eye out for the physical copy, for now check out the whole article here. Woods heads down under to Australia this week for shows in Sydney and elsewhere.
