Mamby On The Beach Reveals Lineup

Over the last few years as festivals have ebbed and flowed in popularity, REACT Presents has found a way to differentiate the summer outdoor music experience with their lakeside Mamby on the Beach which announced its lineup just before the weekend hit.

Following up on several years that have made a point to promote local talent, this year’s lineup boasts the likes of ShowYouSuck, Ravyn Lenae, Towkio, KAMI, Joseph Chilliams, Jamila Woods, Whethan, Cupcakke, DRAMA, Bridget Marie and Common. Joining the huge swath of Chicago represented this time around are Tune-Yards, Grizzly Bear, Russ, Snakehips and plenty more. The whole thing goes down June 23 & 24 at Oakwood Beach. Check out last year’s recap below and pick up your tickets here.

LDRS & Blackhawks Release Collaboration Hats

At this point in its history, the LDRS brand has asserted itself as one of the quintessential Chicago staples that make this city what it is. It only made sense then that Corey, Diego and the whole squad on Madison Street teamed up with none other than the Chicago Blackhawks for a collaborative release that dropped over the weekend and received a celebration at the store located at 1152 w. Madison.

For anyone not in the know, Leaders 1354 has been a mainstay on the local fashion scene for years, serving as a meeting place and incubator for everything from the burgeoning rap scene to the explosion of nationally-known streetwear here in the city. The Blackhawks collaboration comes, of course, with a special series of hats merging the brand’s iconic ‘L’ wing logo with the hockey team’s timeless Indian head insignia. You can pick up your own here, pictures below and make sure you get over to the shop and get with the guys soon.

Saba new album/Tracklist

It appears Saba will be back again with the next installment of his work later this year. The west side MC, who made huge waves last year with his breakthrough Bucket List Project release, is straying from his year-on, year-off pattern from the past by doubling downing 2018. He made the announcement of the upcoming full-length, titled Care For Me via a livestream that previewed some of the tracks. With an April 5 release date, it seems we’re right on the verge of what Saba has in store. For a preview, check out his recent collaboration with local director Peter Campbell in the visual for “Busy“.

Juice WRLD signs with Interscope

Increasingly around Chicago and the greater Midwest as well, it seems talent is trending upward with increasing regularity and the region is once again front and center as local upstart, 19-year-old rapper Juice WRLD reportedly has inked a deal with none other than Interscope.

The dude’s meteoric rise is now cosigned by one of the biggest, if not the biggest, name in hip-hop labels. Having only been posting music since 2015, he broke out in a big way throughout the country with his Juice WRLD 999 which pushed him from a local name to a buzzing trending topic on Twitter with songs topping 1 million plays somewhat regularly. The deal is reportedly worth $3 million. More to come soon.
